COACH THOUGHTS
- Assistant coach Jon Howell, who served as the team's head coach this weekend in place of Jay Seawell who was dealing with a family matter: "First off, we played this event with heavy hearts thinking of coach Seawell and his family. They suffered a loss and our thoughts and prayers are with them. As for the tournament, we knew going in that we were starting three freshmen and there was going to be a learning curve. On this golf course especially, you're going to go through some adversity. I thought for the most part our team did a decent job this weekend, but we left a lot of shot out there on the course. We didn't drive the ball as well as we are capable and we finished last in the field on par 3 holes. Those are some things that we have to correct; and we will. There are a lot of positives that we can take from this as well. I thought Thomas Ponder played well and was pleased with what I saw from Frankie and Wilson as well. We are looking forward to getting back to work this next week and are excited to host the Bush Cup on Sept. 17."
NEXT EVENT
- Alabama will return to action when it hosts Army in the Fifth Annual Bush Cup on Sept. 17. The one-day match-play event will be held at Shoal Creek Country Club in Birmingham, Ala.
- The two teams will play 18 holes in the morning and match play will begin immediately after. The two teams will compete in 10 singles matches in all.
