Jones, Zimnokh Advance to Quarterfinals at ITA Sectional Championships

Andrii Zimnokh and Roan Jones both recorded singles wins to advance to the quarterfinals
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Alabama's Roan Jones and Andrii Zimnokh advanced to the quarterfinals at the ITA Sectional Championships after recording singles wins on Friday.
Both Jones and Zimnokh battled competitors from Florida State in the Round of 16. Jones posted a straight-set win over Youcef Rihane, topping the 88th-nationally ranked Seminole 6-4, 6-2. Zimnokh, ranked 62nd, captured mirroring set scores of 6-2, 6-2 to secure a win over Alex Bulte.
Zimnokh and Zach Foster fell in the quarterfinals in the doubles bracket to Indiana's Facundo Yunis and Jip van Assendelft. The UA duo captured the first set, 6-4, but fell 6-3, in round two. The two teams would battle for the match as Zimnokh and Foster fell 14-12 in the third set.
