Andrii Zimnokh and Zach Foster concluded the week-long tournament after competing in both singles and doubles
TULSA, Okla. –– Alabama's No. 18-ranked doubles team of Andrii Zimnokh and Zach Foster fell in the quarterfinals of the consolation round to conclude play at the ITA All-American Championships.
Foster and Zimnokh fell in the opening set 6-3 to No. 72-ranked Luciano Tacchi and Luca Pow from Wake Forest. The UA doubles duo would rally in the second set, forcing a seven-point tiebreaker. After trading points, the Demon Deacons found the overall victory with an 8-6 win in the tiebreak.
From Assistant Coach Ezequiel Gils
"We had a long week filled with learning opportunities for everyone. Both Andrii and Zach had to retire in singles after putting themselves in a good position by competing very well. Thankfully they were well enough to bounce back for doubles. Our doubles skill is strong, and we must commit to being all-in on what it takes to be a team with championship aspirations. Can't wait to see how we develop this fall as we have a lot of room to grow which is very exciting!"
