Myles Upchurch Named SEC Freshman of the Week

The rookie right-hander totaled a career-high 7.0 IP in Saturday’s 6-2 win over then-No. 15 Ole Miss
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alabama baseball's Myles Upchurch was the named the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week, the league office announced Monday. The distinction is the third weekly honor for Alabama this season and is the first weekly conference accolade awarded to Upchurch in his collegiate career.
Freshman of the Week
- Played a key role in Alabama earning a series win over then-No. 15 Ole Miss
- Logged a career-high 7.0 innings pitched on May 16, allowing just two earned runs
- Surrendered only four hits and two walks to go with six strikeouts across his 21 outs
- After giving up two runs in the 3rd, the freshman proceeded to retire 12 of the next 15 hitters he faced over 4.0 shutout innings
- Toed the rubber for his 14th start on Saturday, ending the regular season as one of only four rookie Power Four pitchers to complete all 14 available weekend starts
