TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The volleyball team hits the road for its second away match of the week when it travels to take on Auburn Sunday at 1:30 p.m. (CST). The Crimson Tide enters the contest fresh off a 3-0 win against Mississippi State Wednesday and sits at 11-10 on the season and 4-8 in Southeastern Conference action. The Tigers also defeated the Bulldogs this week for Auburn's first conference win of the season raising its overall record to 6-18 and 1-12 in league play.
"Our focus right now is on what we need to do to get better," said head coach Judy Green. "We must be more flexible and quicker to make adjustments against teams we face for the second time. We still need to come together more as a team."
Alabama and Auburn met earlier this season in the Tide's SEC home opener where it handed the Tigers a 3-1 loss. In the win, Brooks Webster led all players on offense with a career-high 23 kills and hit .450 percent. Lindsey Buteyn also had double-digit kills with 10. Leading the defensive front was Amy Pauly and Webster, who both tallied 16 digs each. Lauren Martin set a new career-best with nine kills. She also distributed 38 assists.
The Tide owns the 39-26 advantage in the all-time series with the Tigers that includes 16 of the past 17 matchups.
Alabama will wrap up its four-match road stretch next weekend when it takes on LSU and Georgia. Friday's dual with the Tigers is scheduled to tip at 7:00 p.m. (CST), while Sunday's contest with the Bulldogs begins at 12:30 p.m. (CST).
