TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Alabama volleyball picked up a five-set victory, 3-2, over Jacksonville State on Thursday at Foster Auditorium to kick off the Crimson Classic.

The Crimson Tide had to fight back early in the match after dropping the first set, 18-25, which was the first time Alabama lost a set one all season. The Tide responded well in set two and evened things up at 1-1, returning the favor, 25-18.

Later on, Alabama found its groove and coasted to a 25-14 win in the third. After the Jaguars made it 2-2 in the fourth set, the Tide's undefeated record at home was on the line. Alabama managed to come from behind after a timeout in set five to secure the victory.

Laney Hennessee was a force to be reckoned with all match as she racked up 20 kills, the most by a Tide player in a match all year. The difference maker, however, was Alabama's performance at the service line as the Crimson Tide finished with a season-best 14 aces.

"Ultimately, we just talk about the fundamentals. We focus on getting back to our game, our basics. Sometimes, when we want to play tight, we find a way to stay steady and stick with our offensive system. Things that we work on during scout – one thing at a time, and I really feel like that got us out of some really challenging situations."
