Alabama Women’s Basketball Continue Road Swing with Sunday Matchup at Auburn

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women's basketball team (14-7, 4-4 SEC) is headed to Auburn (10-9, 1-6 SEC) for its second Southeastern Conference road game of the week, which will tip in Auburn Arena at 4 p.m. CT on Sunday.
THE BROADCAST
• Sunday's game will air on the SEC Network with Melissa Lee and Amanda Butler on the call.
• The game can also be heard on the Crimson Tide Sports Network on 93.3 FM in Tuscaloosa with Roger Hoover on the broadcast.
OPENING TIP
• Alabama will play its second road game of the week on Sunday when it takes on the Auburn Tigers in Auburn.
• Auburn leads the series against Alabama, 49-37, and has won seven of the last 10 contests.
• The last time the two teams met, the Crimson Tide prevailed in overtime, 63-61, in Auburn. In that game, Alabama set an Auburn Arena record for rebounds, finishing the game with 56 boards. The Tide had four finish in double figures in that contest, led by Hannah Cook, who recorded a double-double of 15 points and 13 rebounds and scored the winning basket with six seconds remaining.
SCOUTING ALABAMA
• Alabama enters Sunday's game with a 14-7 overall record and a 4-4 mark in Southeastern Conference play.
• UA is 4-3 in road games this season, which includes a 2-2 mark against league opponents. The wins came at Florida (first win in Gainesville since 2010) and Arkansas (first win in Fayetteville since 2011), while the losses took place in Starkville against then-No. 4/3 Mississippi State and last time out at Kentucky.
• The Crimson Tide is led in scoring by senior Hannah Cook, who averages 11.3 points per game and in rebounding by fellow senior Ashley Williams, who averages 6.7 boards per contest. Sophomore Jordan Lewis leads the way in assists with 3.6 per game.
• Sophomore Ashley Knight leads the team and ranks fourth in the SEC and 27th nationally in blocks per game with an average of 2.38. She is currently second in career blocks at Alabama (140) and is 47 away from tying Yolanda Watkins (187) for most in program history.
• As a team, the Crimson Tide is averaging 68.0 points per game, 8.1 more than its opponents, and is outrebounding the opposition 40.3-36.0.
• After finishing the 2016-17 season last in the SEC in free throw percentage, Alabama has jumped up to sixth, hitting 71.0 percent of its attempts as a team.
• In 18 of its 21 games this season, Alabama has had eight or more in the scoring column. In eight of those 18 games, 10 or more scored for the Crimson Tide.
• The Crimson Tide started its SEC season with a 3-1 record, which was its best mark since the 1997-98 season. Alabama has also won four of its first seven league games for the first time since that season.
SCOUTING AUBURN
• Auburn heads into Sunday's game with a 10-9 overall record and a 1-6 mark against league opponents.
• The Tigers won their conference opener, 84-55, against Florida and have lost the last six straight.
• Auburn is led in scoring and assists by junior Janiah McKay (16.5 ppg; 4.4 apg), while freshman Unique Thompson leads the way in rebounds (9.5 rpg).
• As a team, the Tigers have forced an average of 23.8 turnovers per game, 14.3 of which have come from steals.
• Auburn is under the direction of Terri Williams-Flournoy, who is in her sixth season as head coach of the Tigers. She's led Auburn to 19 or more wins in three and has reached postseason play four times, including the NCAA tournament twice. Prior to taking over in Auburn, Williams-Flournoy served as head coach at Georgetown (2004-12). She also had assistant stops at Southwest Missouri State (2002-04), Georgia (1996-02) and Georgetown (1992-96).
