Alabama Men’s Tennis Begins 2018 SEC Men’s Tournament Against Auburn on Wednesday in Tuscaloosa

The Crimson Tide is hosting the tournament for the first time in 2006
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The No. 50 Alabama men's tennis team opens up the 2018 SEC Men's Tournament against in-state rival Auburn on Wednesday, April 25 at 4 p.m. CT at the Alabama Tennis Stadium. The Crimson Tide is hosting the SEC Tournament for the first time since 2006.
Alabama shut out Auburn earlier this year in Tuscaloosa, as the Tide defeated the Tigers 4-0 on March 18 at the Alabama Tennis Stadium.
Junior Mazen Osama ranks as the No. 18 singles player in the country, with a 12-7 record, including six wins over national-ranked opponents. Sophomore Edson Ortiz leads the team with in the spring with a 16-5 record, while sophomore Alexey Nesterov is second on the squad with a 15-7 mark.
In doubles, Osama and partner Ortiz moved up seven spots in the latest Oracle/ITA Doubles rankings to No. 30 in the nation. The duo is 16-5, which is tops on the team in the No. 1 spot.
As a team, Alabama stayed at No. 50 in the latest Oracle/ITA Team Rankings that were released on Tuesday morning.
Auburn has one singles player in the latest rankings, as Matteo De Vincentis came in as No. 85 in the nation. The Tigers dropped their final two matches against LSU and Texas A&M.
