Women’s Basketball Looks to Get Back on Track Against Vanderbilt on Sunday

The Crimson Tide and Commodores will tipoff at 2 p.m. CT in Coleman Coliseum
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women's basketball will look to bounce back from two narrow defeats to top-25 opponents when it hosts Vanderbilt on Sunday at 2 p.m. inside Coleman Coliseum. The Crimson Tide (11-8, 1-5 SEC) has won the last four meetings against the Commodores (12-7, 2-4 SEC).
This is the 51st meeting between the two programs with the Commodores leading the series 34-16, despite the Tide's four-game win streak. UA and VU met twice last season, once in Nashville and the other in the SEC Tournament, with the Tide winning by double-digit margins in both. The last time they played in Tuscaloosa was on Jan. 21, 2018 with Alabama coming out on top 77-75.

• The Crimson Tide has had one of the toughest schedules to start Southeastern conference play with four out of its first six games coming against top-25 teams. Five of the six of the teams the Tide has played are in the top-60 in RPI, which include, Texas A&M (17), Tennessee (58), LSU (24), Kentucky (20) and South Carolina (1).
• Redshirt junior Jordan Lewis has 1,023 career points after scoring 17 in the loss against Texas A&M on Thursday. Lewis took over the No. 8 spot in career assists at Alabama and is just 12 away from moving up to No. 7. She has scored in double figures in nine straight games for an average of 15.6 points per game. For the season, she leads the team in points (13.8), assists (3.7) and is second in 3-point percentage (38.7). • Lewis is putting up 15.8 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.8 assists through the six conference matchups. Both Lewis and junior Jasmine Walker have scored in double figures in all six SEC games, while Lewis has scored in double-digits in nine consecutive contests.
• The Tide has been led in SEC play by Walker who is playing her best in 2020 after averaging 16.5 points and 7.8 rebounds, including coming in on fire from beyond the arc after going 18-of-42 (42.9 percent) through six SEC games. Walker has a double-double in all three of the Tide's SEC road games.
• The Alabama bench has outscored its opponents, 582-313 (30.6 avg. - 16.5 avg), in 19 games this season. The Tide reserves leads the SEC in total bench points and bench points per game.
• Seven different Alabama players average 6.3 points or more. Lewis is tops on the team (13.8), while Walker is second with 12.0 points. Others include senior Cierra Johnson (8.9), junior Ariyah Copeland (7.7), sophomore De'Sha Benjamin (7.6), sophomore Megan Abrams (7.4) and sophomore Brittany Davis (6.3).

• After starting SEC play at 2-1, the Commodores have dropped their last three games, all of which coming to ranked foes.
• VU is led by Mariella Fasoula who leads the team in points and rebounds with 14.7 and 7.5 respectively. Off the bench, Koi Love provides a spark with 13.8 points and 6.3 rebounds per contest.
• Head Coach Stephanie White is in her third year at the helm, while sporting a 33-47 career record. White was previously the head coach of the Indiana Fever in the WNBA.
