Kaleigh Palmer surpassed 500 career kills
BATON ROUGE, La. - The Alabama volleyball team (8-2, 0-1 SEC) dropped its conference opener to LSU (6-4, 1-0 SEC) at the Maravich Center on Wednesday night, despite taking the Tigers to five sets.
The Crimson Tide had an answer each time the Tigers won a set, until the fifth and final set came along. Set one was a back-and-forth battle, but LSU came out on top, 25-23. Alabama responded well with its best offensive set of the night, hitting .312 and winning set two, 25-20.
After the Tigers took another lead, the Tide responded once again in a thrilling 26-24 set four victory to force a fifth set. It was all LSU to end the match as the Tigers won set five, 15-3.
Despite the result, Alabama held LSU to its fourth-lowest hitting percentage of the season at .209. The Crimson Tide finished with 54 digs and 10 blocks.
