The Crimson Tide will return to action Friday afternoon vs. Iowa
STARKVILLE, Miss. – Alabama suffered its first setback of the season, falling to Northwestern 3-1 in the opening match of the 2026 Allstate Big 10/SEC Challenge.
The Crimson Tide (2-1) opened the match by winning the first set but dropped the next two by matching scores of 25-18. The fourth set went back-and-forth featuring seven ties and two lead changes before the Wildcats closed it out to result in the final score.
Five Crimson Tide attackers posted nine or more kills, led by 12 from Laney Hennessee. Addison Engel also added a career-high 11 terminations at a team-high .450 attacking percentage. Fraga posted a team-high 17 digs on the night, while Mya Allen and Hannah Parant paced the Tide with three aces and three blocks, respectively.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Alabama opened the match with a dominating 25-16 set one victory
- The Crimson Tide posted 55 kills at a .315 attacking percentage
- Three Tide attackers finished with double-digit kills, while two more added nine
