Alabama’s Gillian Kilburn, a sophomore midfielder from North Vancouver, B.C. was named the Southeastern Conference Offensive Player of the Week for her performance this weekend.
Kilburn scored two goals against Arkansas on Sunday within the game's first eight minutes to lead Alabama (8-8, 4-4 SEC) to a 3-1 win and its first weekend road sweep in the SEC since 1998.
“I’m proud of Gillian for the way she played and how she rose to the occasion,” said Alabama head coach Don Staley.
Kilburn got the Crimson Tide rolling just 3:34 into the game when she wrapped a shot around Arkansas' goal keeper for the early 1-0 lead. She then responded with her second goal of the game, Alabama’s third, just 4:25 seconds later.
She now has three goals, three assists, and nine points on the season.
