TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Alabama soccer team (5-2-0, 0-1-0 SEC) will head to Baton Rouge for its first television appearance of the season as it will play LSU (4-2-2, 0-1-0 SEC) on Sunday, Sept. 16, on CSS. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m., at the LSU Soccer Stadium. The match can also be viewed live online on ESPN3.
Both teams enter the match after dropping tough decisions on Friday night. The Crimson Tide fell in overtime at No. 23 Tennessee while the Tigers lost, 1-0, against No. 10 Texas A&M.
The two teams have faced off 17 times going into this weekend's match, with Alabama holding a 9-6-2 lead in the series. Since Brian Lee took over at LSU, Alabama has gone just 2-5-1 against LSU and hasn't won since 2005.
In last year's meeting, LSU scored just before halftime to take the lead and tacked on an insurance goal late in the match to defeat Alabama, 2-0, in the Power of Pink game in Tuscaloosa. LSU outshot Alabama, 21-5, with Pia Rijsdijk taking four of those shots for the Tide.
Alabama will return to Tuscaloosa to continue SEC play as it welcomes Georgia and Mississippi to the Alabama Soccer Stadium. Georgia comes to town on Friday, September 21, with kickoff starting at 7 p.m. CT. Alabama and Mississippi will face off on Sunday, September 23, with kickoff coming at 1 p.m. CT.
