
Alabama Soccer Earning National Notoriety

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama soccer team is exploding on all cylinders, as it has a trio players that have climbed their way into the top-25 nationally in many different major categories. Junior Lacey Clarida leads the country in game-winning goals with three, while sophomore transfer Abbie Boswell is first in the NCAA in assists with five. Junior goalkeeper Kat Stratton has been dominate between the posts, as she has produced two shutouts ranking 14th nationally.
Clarida has compiled six goals through the first four games, which ranks second in the country. She is also seventh in the NCAA in goals per game averaging 1.5, and she is third in total points with 13.0. In the Southeastern Conference, Clarida is second in points (13.0), second in goals (6), points per game with 3.25 and second in goals per game (1.5). Her three game-winning goals leads the conference. The gifted forward has tallied goals in each of the Tide's first four games, and in two matches she has scored a pair of goals.
Boswell has proved to be an immediate impact to the Alabama Crimson Tide soccer program, as she averages 1.25 assists per game, which ranks eighth in country and first in the SEC. She is in the top-10 of the NCAA in total points holding the 10th spot on that list with 11.0 points. She ranks fourth in the conference in points (11.0) and points per game averaging 2.75. The talented forward is second on the team in shots on goal and shots registering eight and 16, respectively. Her imposing .500 shot on goal percentage ranks third amongst the team. She also ranks fifth in the conference in goals and goals per game compiling three and averaging 0.75, respectively.
Clarida and Boswell have had a huge influence on the Tide's strong start to the 2016 campaign. The Tide's offense is a well-oiled machine, as it ranks in the top-10 nationally in four major offensive categories. Alabama is ranked fourth in shots per game, as it is averaging 26.5. In the assists column, the Tide is eighth nationally, compiling 12 so far this season. Alabama is sixth in total goals and total points with 14 and 40, respectively.
Stratton anchors the defense, as she been a key component in helping the Tide produce three shutouts in its first four games. Her two shutouts ranks third in the SEC, and she is also tied for first in the league in shutouts per game averaging 0.50. In Alabama's third recorded shutout, Stratton logged 57 minutes.
