Reyes helped secure the backline in the Crimson Tide’s 1-0 win against Clemson in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Reyna Reyes was named to TopDrawerSoccer's Team of the Week for her defensive performance during Alabama's First Round NCAA Tournament match at Clemson, the organization announced Tuesday.
Reyes and the Crimson Tide held Clemson scoreless through 90 minutes as Alabama clinched its first-ever win in the NCAA Tournament. Prior to Friday's game, the Tigers were ranked as the No. 11 scoring offense in the country, averaging 2.74 goals a game after netting 52 shots this season. It was only the third time this season that Clemson was unable to produce a goal as the Crimson Tide joined then-No. 4 North Carolina and then-No. 1 Virginia with the feat.
The honor is the first for Reyes and the second this season for the Crimson Tide after Bella Scaturro was selected for the team following UA's upset over then-No. 24 LSU.
Reyes and the Crimson Tide will face the No. 13 team in the country and No. 4 seed BYU Thursday in the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament. The game will kick off at 3 p.m. CT in Charlottesville, Va.
