Madi Munguia Named SEC Soccer Defensive Player of the Week

The Crimson Tide goalkeeper recorded two shutouts this week, giving her three straight clean sheets
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – With a pair of shutout victories this past week, junior goalkeeper Madi Munguia has earned recognition from the Southeastern Conference as its SEC Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
Munguia played all 90 minutes in the net across two shutouts this week for Alabama, earning four saves across a 3-0 win over Troy on Thursday and a 3-0 victory over South Alabama on Sunday. Munguia and the Crimson Tide have now recorded three straight shutouts, its first three-game shutout streak since 2022.
It is the first Defensive Player of the Week accolade of Munguia's career, having previously been named SEC Freshman of the Week as a redshirt freshman last year on Sept. 8. She is the Tide's first Defensive Player of the Week since McKinley Crone was recognized on Oct. 24, 2022.
