Madi Munguia Earns Third SEC Soccer Defensive Player of the Week Honor

She is the Crimson Tide’s first three-time SEC award winner since Riley Mattingly Parker in 2022

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – For the second straight week and the third time this season, Alabama junior goalkeeper Madi Munguia has been named the SEC Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.

Munguia matched her season high with five saves in a 2-0 shutout win over Arkansas last Friday in Tuscaloosa, already her second shutout in as many games to start SEC play. It was her sixth overall shutout of the season, which puts Munguia in a four-way tie for fifth place in program season history, four behind record-holder McKinley Crone's 10 from the 2022 season.

Munguia is the first Alabama player to earn three weekly awards from the SEC since Riley Mattingly Parker was named Offensive Player of the Week three times in 2022. She is the only player in the league so far this season to win three weekly awards.
